Student Teaching

It is now September and my first student teaching placement is almost done! Hard to believe that there are only a few more weeks left in first grade.

In what has been somewhat overwhelming, tiring, and the days haven't always been short. But all in all, it has been a good experience!

It has been a tough adjustment getting used to teaching and now being in college. I still feel like I should be hitting the library late at night finishing up my school work instead of lesson planning and teaching kids for eight hours everyday. I'm not sure if it was a lack of mental preparation or just trying to figure out the unknown of being in the 'real world', but it has certainly been a challenge this semester. It is strange not being social 24/7 with friends. Without college this semester, I think it will make me enjoy Spring Semester that much more!!

Being in Colorado this semester has had so many perks! I am living with family which includes two adorable little girls, Lizzie and Jennie. They always bring a smile to everyone around them!!

I have been able to go on several adventures the past few weekends. This has included doing trail maintenance on Mt. Quandary, a fourteener in the state. It was beautiful weather, and some tough work! I definitely have a huge respect for those that do this work all the time. We were hauling boulders at 12,000' and building walls to prevent erosion on the trail.

This past weekend I was able to see one of my dear friends, Rachel!! It was so great to catch up and hang out in Golden, Colorado. Such a beautiful place with an awesome friend! We discovered this incredibly authentic Mediterranean food restaurant for incredibly cheap. Yum.

Despite distance, I have loved connecting with people. It makes me even more grateful for each time I get to talk to people! Nothing like a little perspective. :)

Hope you have a wonderful day!!
